It's All Child's Play

I've had the great pleasure of working with Hasbro this year and can now proudly say that I'm well-versed in both the Transformers and My Little Pony lexicons (among others). This titan of the toy industry is also responsible for favorite brands including Playskool, G.I. Joe, Nerf, Littlest Pet Shop, Mr. Potato Head, Play-Doh and many, oh, many more.

Currently, I'm tasked with writing the product descriptions that appear on the Hasbro site and that they send to other retailers. At this point, nearly all of their U.S. products come through me and, let me tell you, it's a lot. But fun! Lots of fun. Also, when I went to see the G.I. Joe movie, I so knew aaaaaaall of the characters, scenes and vehicles. Beat that, 14 year-old boys.

Striding Ahead In Itty Bitty Shoes

A couple of months ago, I had the pleasure of doing a little work with my friends over at Hired Pens and writing the copy for the Stride Rite fall selection. It was tons of fun to write, plus I now know a ba-jillion things about appropriate toddler insoles. Here are a couple of screenshots:

So, for a bit of time, I did a stint as a freelance copywriter for Karmaloop.com (now also located in a brick and mortar store on Newbury St.) . The assignment was to make the descriptions as out of the box as possible while still making the fashions, you know, desirable. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Working Girl Pant
Whether you're CEO or on the assembly line, there is one great equalizer throughout women-dom: a great pair of chino cargo pants. (Well, there might be a couple others, but chinos are awfully important.) Here's a cut that looks good on absolutely everyone - just a little baggy with a slight flare. Tropic Pant
We're jealous. We wish we could be like you and drop everything to move to St. Lucia. Who knew you could make a living foraging for seashells during the day and making daiquiris at night?
